"Jazz music is America's past and its potential, summed up and sanctified and accessible to anybody who learns to listen to, feel, and understand it. The music can connect us to our better selves-to-come. It can remind us of where we fit on the time line of human achievement, an ultimate value of art." -Wynton Marsalis
Jazz music compels my soul to create art. Infinitely unpredictable, the musicians connect directly with pure melody and rhythm and translate it to their audience. In this series of work, I have participated in the process of improvisation alongside the musicians. Drawing during live performances or while actively listening to jazz recordings, I have created abstract compositions inspired by jazz musicians and music. Each drawing has been transferred to a linoleum block and printed for a limited edition in archival ink on 100% mulberry paper. The prints are individually titled, numbered, and signed. They are mounted and matted in acid-free, archival materials and include a Certificate of Authenticity. Click on any image below for more information or to purchase.
